Facing Off with the Power of the Sun
When you think of beauty in connection New Zealand the stunning natural beauty of the country is invariably the first thing that springs to mind.
RAESO and its skincare concept from way down under immediately piqued my curiosity. The island nation that is the dream destination par excellence emerged around 80 million years ago with flora and fauna that have found their own unique answer to environmental conditions down to the present day. Many regions are sparsely populated; much of the landscape has remained virtually untouched. The special evolutionary history of the place has brought forth organisms that have been able to adapt in remarkable ways and have remained endemic to New Zealand. What a marvelous treasure trove of potential for RAESO to draw on!

Manuka honey, renowned for its regenerative properties, is the key “Kiwi” ingredient in the products.
Back to the Roots with a Scientific Foundation
RAESO founder Katey Mandy grew up on the North Island and, after working for years in the international cosmetics industry, decided to return to her origins. Since childhood, careful observation and a profound understanding of the botanical world of her homeland has shaped Katy’s relationship to nature.

The brand’s sharp focus on protection is also a reflection of her provenance: New Zealand is one of most UV-intensive regions on Earth – not least because if it’s clean air. Plants have reacted to this with especially high concentrations of antioxidants, which provide natural protection from oxidative stress. These mechanisms and biological strategies come into play in the RAESO formulations.
Manuka honey, renowned for its regenerative properties, is the key “Kiwi” ingredient in the products. This honey has a selective effect in an interplay with the skins’ microbiome, a phenomenon I find especially interesting.

Skincare in a Day and Night Cycle
RAESO products are designed on the basis of chronobiology, in other words, the natural daily rhythm of the skin. During the daytime, the emphasis is on protection and at night, on regeneration – from the effects of the sun, among other things. Thanks to a specially developed technique the active ingredients are delivered to the skin at precisely the time it can best benefit from them. Thus the precisely targeted product effect continues to unfold far beyond the time of application.

You don’t need to be a New Zealand enthusiast to appreciate this unique clean beauty skincare. In fact, I think everyone should definitely give it a try!
The concept as a whole also takes a clear stance when it comes respecting the needs of nature. From the selection and sustainable sourcing of raw materials to the design of the wonderful organically shaped containers, the entire brand image is, in my opinion, absolutely coherent and harmonious.
