Raeso addresses the power of the sun – its light and warmth, but also its ability to cause premature skin to ageing. Founder Katey Mandy grew up in northern New Zealand, in both the city and the countryside, and worked for many years in the international cosmetics industry before finally returning to her roots. An early interest in the flora of her homeland culminated in the development of her own skincare line.
The focus on protection is also related to Katey’s home country, as New Zealand is one of the most UV-intensive regions on Earth. The indigenous plants there have reacted accordingly, producing unusually high concentrations of antioxidants, a natural protective mechanism to counter oxidative stress. Raeso leverages this natural defensive arsenal.
The key ingredient is Manuka honey, renowned for its regenerative properties. The bees extract the nectar from the blossoms of the Manuka tree, native to New Zealand. The formulations are developed in collaboration with scientists. From the sustainable sourcing of raw materials to the final formula and the elegant, organically shaped containers, the products are well thought through and responsibly planned and executed. The treatment is designed to function along the lines of chronobiology: protection during the day, regeneration overnight, always in harmony with the natural rhythm of the skin.
