Aphorismes Parfums by Dominique Ropion

Throughout his life Dominique Ropion has told stories. Many stories. Now, with Aphorismes, he is adding another chapter of olfactory storytelling to his life’s work.

With his incomparable way of turning sophisticated raw materials into comprehensible fragrance jewels, Ropion is considered a master of complex perfume storytelling. We are reminded, for example, of «Vetiver Extraordinaire» by Frederic Malle, a scent in which a somewhat «cumbersome» key ingredient is transformed into an inimitably elegant total work of art. It’s almost as if someone had taken this fragrant root of the bunch grass family with its rather overbearing character and dressed it in ballet slippers.

Despite the forceful presence of his Aphorismes perfumes Dominique has succeeded in giving the wearer enough space to tell his or her own story and to use the scents as imaginary dream catchers.

As in an aphorism, which expresses a basic truth in a pithy statement, this breathtaking collection is about capturing the quintessence of an idea in a concise fragrance formulation using just a few choice raw materials. It goes without saying that Ropion’s vast experience ensured that only the most select natural raw materials and molecules were used.

The elegant collection of six creations was launched in 2024.
