In medical cryotherapy (treatment with applications of cold) body temperature is temporarily reduced, either entirely or in the targeted area only. This is done, for example, to relieve inflammation or loosen up musculature. In a skin care context the minor “cold shock” triggered by the application of a “cryo” product has the effect of minimizing or suppressing sensory impulse conduction and catabolic processes. Thus the negative effects of stress factors can be reduced, which boosts regeneration processes in the skin.
